In tech, a lot of people boarded planes where the pilots planned on being refueled in the air, and for a long time the refuels came. There will always be failed companies with poor leaders. We need to be discerning when we select a company to work for. In addition to compensation, we need to know about core values, transparency by leadership, current competition, barriers to entry, reliance on future investment, big opportunities, big threats, etc. It’s really tough to get a true picture of a company in an interview process, but that’s the task at hand.
