It's surprising to me how quickly sentiment is shifting around higher education. Many universities are already dealing with falling enrollment for many reasons cited in a recent Grammarly for Education white paper, and on top of that, there is a coming “demographic cliff” from when people stopped having kids for a number of years during the Great Recession (2007-2009). So, fewer college-aged kids exist and a smaller % of those kids want to go to college because they don’t see the ROI. Other kids who would have seen the ROI aren’t prepared. This is a major impact to all but the very top tier institutions.
