A new Statista chart shows how long workers in different countries must work, at average gross hourly wages, to afford an iPhone 17.
In the United States, it takes about 21 hours, while in the UK and Germany the figure is closer to 30–35 hours. Workers in Canada, France, and Australia need slightly longer, around 35–40 hours. In lower-wage countries like India, Vietnam, Brazil, and Turkey, buying the same phone requires over 400 hours of work. The comparison highlights differences in global purchasing power. The data is based on dividing the iPhone’s retail price by average hourly wages from labor statistics.
